Detecting Psychotropic Adverse Drug Events in Long-Term Care
In a recent study, an international interdisciplinary team of experts developed a consensus list of the top 10 signs and symptoms indicative of adverse drug events (ADEs) among long-term care (LTC) residents taking antipsychotics, benzodiazepines, or antidepressants.
The study’s authors agreed that LTC residents should be monitored for these signs and symptoms, which can reduce quality of life or cause significant harm and can be observed and/or measured by nurses or caregivers.
