Illinois & Chicago Mandatory Paid Leave: What LTC Needs to Know

DATE: Thursday, December 21, 2023
Noon – 1 p.m. CST

COURSE DESCRIPTION

For Illinois employers, the Paid Leave for All Workers Act goes into effect January 1, 2024, and it signifies a paradigm shift in workforce management by giving employees the right to earn up to 40 hours of paid leave per year based on hours worked. And in Chicago, the City Council passed the Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave Ordinance, which creates a separate obligation for employers to provide staff working in Chicago the ability to earn up to 40 hours of paid leave and up to 40 hours of paid sick leave per 12-month accrual period, with a total entitlement of up to 80 hours of paid time off per 12-month period.

Helping you navigate these new regulations are Aimee E. Delaney and Tom H. Luetkemeyer, partners with Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP.

Join this free webinar to:

  • Learn how these regulations impact all long-term care providers and their employees, including part-time, full time, and seasonal employees.

  • Identify paid leave accrual options, carry-over rules, records requirements, and potential penalties.

  • Recognize potential hurdles in changing policy, particularly on the issues of pre-existing paid leave policies exemption, remote employee coverage, and requesting and using paid leave rate of pay.

As a partner with Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP  in Chicago, Aimee Delaney counsels employers on all aspects of the employment relationship. Aimee graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and she has been an adjunct law professor at her alma mater for more than a decade.

Tom joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in January 1985, and he currently serves as partner specializing in labor and employment law and corporate health care law. He is an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law and teaches labor law, employment law, and employment discrimination.
