The Age-Tech Toolbox: Up-to-Date Age-Tech Tools for Supporting Elders and Their Families

DATE: Thursday, February 16, 2023
Noon – 1 p.m. CST

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In the beginning, technology for seniors meant making buttons larger, text bigger, and everything simpler.  While adapting technology to make it easier for seniors is important, the concept of Age Tech centers on assistive technology for older adults and their caregivers with the intent of improving the aging experience. A distinguishing characteristic is that Age Tech is greatly designed by and for seniors.

With more than 400 tools in the market, innovation in Age Tech is happening faster than we can keep up with it. Yet, knowing which tools are available for different situations is becoming a critical service that life-aging professionals can offer families. In this fast-moving workshop, learn the types of tools now available and how to evaluate their fit for a resident.

Join this free webinar to:

  • Distinguish Age Tech and assistive technology to improve the lives of older adults

  • Navigate the maze of tools that are available for different scenarios and needs

  • Embrace the role of counseling families on Age Tech solutions

As a social gerontologist, Benjamin spearheads initiatives to re-think and re-build — opening the first lifelong learning center in partnership with a YMCA and with elders driving the program decisions. He shapes innovative engagement experiences for seniors, as well as specialized programming for people living with dementia, including in-demand educational experiences for professionals and families, and building onboarding and training for 2,000+ dementia professionals. Throughout, Benjamin is most passionate about designing powerful user experiences for elders and the people who serve them.
