COURSE DESCRIPTION

Nearly five million patients in the United States are currently treated with antipsychotics, which makes Dopamine-Receptor Blocking Agent (DRBA)–induced movement disorders associated with medications commonly used for psychiatric disorders more frequent than one might think. Learn about various types of DRBAs, including Tardive Dyskinesia (TD), and how best to recognize clinical presentations of DRBAs. We will also touch on treatment options and stigma associated with the disorder.

Dr Sharon Cahoon Metzger is a member of the Neurocrine Biosciences Medical Department. Sharon earned a PhD in Developmental Neurobiology from the University of Utah and was faculty at both Dartmouth College and Dartmouth School of Medicine. She has almost 20 years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, working in a variety of therapeutic areas including multiple sclerosis, mitochondrial disease, rare blood disorders, respiratory/infectious, and endocrine disease.
